I keep my female mice in a colony when not breeding. They are kept in large cages with pipes, boxes, ropes and various toys. They form strong friendships and love snuggling together.
When pregnant my pregnant doe goes with a none pregnant doe for company and a little bit of baby sitting for 'me time'. |
They are not show standard to my knowledge but bred out of healthy lines that have lived long happy lives without showing signs of tumors. though sadly tumors are always a fear due to their lab bred ancestors. I often have unique coloured mice and some selfs or patterned. Please remember that baby mice can and often are very jumpy when babies, but with gentle friendship this soon fades as they grow to trust you. A quicker careful hand is often needed for the first few weeks of bonding, but you can soon get your best friend sitting in your shirt pocket peeking out. |
